2011 was indeed the year of changes and there were many new web services and websites that were opened all around the internet. Some of these become important parts of our lives and some struggled to get their share of traffic and popularity on the internet.
These days it is not very easy to implement the great business idea or plan. You have to constantly work hard and stay dedicated so that they you can achieve your goal in a much more effective way.
After looking through the 2011, there were certain outages that are rated as worst. We are talking about the big corporations of the internet who have to struggle to keep their services secured and stable. Some of the outages that have the biggest impacts are:
Netflix
The Netflix is one of the popular online movie streaming services that experienced a number of interruptions that affected to the millions of subscribers of Netflix. The first outage occurred on 22nd March 2011. After this the service went down for more than 3 times. Next outage occurred on 19th June and is followed by July 20 and August 22.
Reddit, Hootsuite, Foursquare, et al.
On April, 21 one of the major players in the cloud computing arena, Amazon announced that its web services went down due to some technical glitches. The outage started at 5 AM ET and continued for several days. Amazon apologized to their customers and then offered its customers 10 day credit.
Bank of America
Bank of America is no stranger to the website crashed and the company experienced a number of outages in this year. The company’s website was only 41 per cent available and the average response time was 90 seconds. The website was again down after one and half months and this time the site was available 83.09 per cent. The response time of the site at this time was 15 seconds. In October, 2011 the website faced the turbulence again and for six consecutive days the site was down. This outage is rated as #1 biggest website outage in 2011.
