70% of Employers don’t seem to like candidates being fashionable and Trendy for interviews.  Strangely enough this can affect how employers view you as a prospective employee.  A lot of companies out there don’t want their candidates to be fashionable and trendy, unless of course it is for the fashion and media industry.  There doesn’t seem to be any real reasoning behind this, but considering how most people doll up for interviews, it’s a hard one to avoid.  I guess you need to judge what is considered appropriate for the job and if you need to ask, then it’s probably, a NO!

Lack of preparation is another common mistake made.  A lot of people fail in this criterion because they simply do not do enough homework on the company.  How can you know if this company you are interviewing is the right company for you if don’t know anything about them and vice-versa.

Trying to be everything to everyone is an issue because although employers don’t want Mr/Miss perfect they want somebody who is aware of their strong points and areas they need development.  Understanding what you development areas are takes a certain level of maturity and this is what they are looking for, which bring to the next point.

Failing to sell yourself correctly could do more damaged than if you missed the interview all together.  If you don’t sell your qualities then you will leave the interviewer nothing to consider about you.  When the next candidate is being interviewed sell themselves fantastically they will leave and impression and you will be forgotten.

33% of employer will know whether or not they intend to hire somebody within 90 seconds of the interview by their verbal and non verbal body language.  You need to remain confident in tone of voice, posture and avoid fidgeting and fiddling with things.

If you adopt these suggestions you will make a good impression on your employer who may offer you the job.  If you don’t get the job don’t be discouraged by it, ask for feedback and so you can look at ways to make the next interview better

We even have words that are not even words.  People will actually say things out loud like, “OMG” and “LOL” as if they were real word.   “Swag” and “baller” were found on almost every website not so long ago; these seem to have been driven by the Hip-hop and Rap music scene.  Each buzz word seems to come with a use by date and not too far along this timeline, it’ll change to something else or be put on the shelf for a later date.
